- The book is the outcome of the interest that visual artist, poet, engraver, editor and professor Guillermo Deisler [1940-1995] felt for the work of Julio Aciares, an instinctive and self-taught artist. The editorial project is a creative approach to popular art that the author materializes through various strategies: epistolary exchange, conversations and interviews, preparation of questionnaires sent by mail, tracking and photographic capture of the works, collection, study and selection of texts, notes and press clippings. Deisler's unpublished book (due to political persecution and his self-imposed exile) was to be composed of his own archives on Aciares prepared in 1972, which today allows us to account for the work methodologies of Deisler: his interest for graphic language and popular art (specially engraving and poetry) and his work as editor with his own editorial house Ediciones Mimbre (1963-1973).
