- Summary:
- Exhibition of set of works by artists in the segment, present or not at the Modern Art Week. In the exhibition, there is the opportunity, perhaps the first, of a direct contact with a set of works of the modernist production of Sacred Art, whether in painting, sculpture, music or literature. Architecture was also included because, after 100 years, one has access to the plans and sketches of the Taperinhaʺ, conceived in a neocolonial style and presented by Przyrembel in the Semana de 22. Consciously or unconsciously rooted, the sacred themes continued to be approached by modernist artists, who, based on a new aesthetic produced, often seen as profane, brought new perspectives to the sacredʺ, emphasizes the curatorship. The guiding thread is the dominance of the 'sacred' theme, or related to the 'sacred', present in all the works. Aldo Bonadei, Alfredo Ceschiatti, Alfredo Volpi, Anita Malfatti, Antônio Gomide, Cândido Portinari, Clóvis Graciano, Di Cavalvanti, Djanira, George Przyrembel, Heitor Villa Lobos, Gino Bruno, Mario de Andrade, Paulo Rossi Osir, Samsom Flexor, Sylvio Alves, Thomaz Ianelli, Victor Brecheret, have works in the exhibit, although not all of them participated in the Week of 22ʺ, they got along with each other, were friends, exchanged experiences and influenced each other.
