Summary:
Magdalena Jitrik (Buenos Aires, 1966) is an artist who has developed most of her artistic production in the area of painting. She's not only has been one of the most active artists in the 1990s, when she participated in the first edition of the Scholarship Kuitca and led the curatorship together with Jorge Gumier Maier of the gallery of the Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas, but also her Museo Libertario and her participation within the Taller Popular de Serigrafía (TPS) place her among the few who knew how to propose new links between politics and art in the climate of post-2001 Argentina. Although she is the author of a vast and significant work, which belongs to collections of prestigious institutions such as the Museo Castagnino in Rosario, Malba of Buenos Aires, or Museo Reina Sofía and Centro Dos de Mayo in Spain to name just a few, this is the first book where Jitrik's work can be seen from its beginnings to the present. In addition to a selection of more than one hundred images that cover through the artist's exhibitions, the edition commissioned the writing of three unpublished essays to prestigious critics and historians. This book is the tenth title of the collection of Argentine artists published Adriana Hidalgo Editora.
