Summary:
"Bienal Tlatelolca" is a biannual event that commemorates and reevaluates the fall of Tenochtitlan in its last stronghold, Tlatelolco. Organized by artists Balam Bartolomé (Ocosingo, 1975) and Antonio Monroy (Toluca, 1984) and operating in the Conjunto Habitacional Nonoalco-Tlatelolco, this cultural iniciative is a symbol of the national dystopia around modernity. This project aims to connect with the territory from community work; as well as raise awareness of the current historical moment and reflect on how it is built, transformed and related to its past, to delve into the ideas of territory, identity, motherland-homeland and nation. Since 2019 it has served as a space for reflection and production for Latin American architects, filmmakers, designers and artists, who have been invited to occupy the space in different periods to connect with Tlatelolco from a historical perspective. From his research have emerged collaborations with anthropologists, cooks, biologists, archaeologists and neighbors.
