Summary:
Demetrio Peralta Miranda (Puno, 1910-Lima, 1971) was a self-taught painter, collaborator of the Boletín Titikaka, of the group Orkopata. Despite belonging to the lineage of the Peralta brothers -Arturo, better known as Gamaliel Churata, the author of El pez de oro, and Alejandro, the author of Ande-, Demetrio, as an artist, he opted for discretion. But among the brothers, he was the most political and during the government of Luis Miguel Sánchez Cerro he was imprisoned and tortured. His art is multifaceted. He worked woodcut, comics, oil, illustration and the art of tiles. "'El arte de Demetrio Peralta: Vanguardia y modernidad' by Christian Reynoso represents a recovery of the history of Peruvian art, by incorporating stories of silenced artists from other parts of Peru, since the historiographical narrative and the development of art history in our country have privileged Lima and have forgotten important milestones. This is the case of the avant-garde process through the work of Demetrio Peralta. His unpublished character and the study of his work among which is the woodcut, the comic strip, the illustration, the oil painting and the art in tiles allows us to know the artist in his life cycle."
