Summary:
Receipt signed by Andrew Forrest, bookseller, for 11 named books and pamphlets sold to Andrew Wauchope of Niddrie Esqre. Andrew Wauchope was a prosperous laird on the outskirts of Edinburgh, at Niddrie Marischal. In this receipt Wauchope purchases 11 current political and literary books and pamphlets, including books by "Mr. Logan" and "Mr. Ruddiman," "King Harry the Ninth," "Congress of the Beasts," "Verses" and several acts of Parliament, to a total of 9 shillings. Andrew Forrest's note at the foot of the account reads "Sir/ I hope you'll pardon the Freedom I have taken in sending you out this accot. for in this time of Vacance I have very much need of Money."
