Extensive additions of remedies to an interleaved copy of John Theobald's Every man his own physician (London: W. Griffin, 1764). Annotations appear on many of the interleaved pages, often keyed to the printed remedies on the facing page with the same symbol accompanying the annotation and marking the relevant point in the printed text. Additional remedies are written on the endleaves and on 8 loose notes, seven of which are affixed to leaves with straight pins. A few annotations are dated: 27 July 1788 (following p. 24), 23 August 1825 (following p. 34), and 29 November 1828 (verso following p. 48), More are attributed to unidentified names such as Mrs. Gay, Mrs. Hare, and Mrs. Grimwood, and at least one is attributed to another printed source, The village doctor (following p. 36), possibly referring to James Scott's The village doctor: or the art of curing diseases rendered familiar and easy, first published in London in 1824.
