Summary:
"Aging face surgery is the most demanding of all aesthetic procedures, dealing with a complex anatomic array of nerves, blood vessels, ligaments, fascial layers, and musculature, all interwoven in ways that are difficult to dissect. The extended deep plane facelift technique is the focus of this book. The importance of evidence-based learning is emphasized and demonstrates how these techniques are supported by scientific clinical studies. Part I contains four comprehensive chapters that focus on the technique's rationale, safety, and effectiveness; surgical anatomy of the face and neck; anatomic changes associated with face and neck aging; and a chapter devoted to the extended deep plane facelift technique, including a focus on treatment of the midface, jawline, and neck. Because the neck is the area most predisposed to failure after facelift, neck rejuvenation procedures are described to ensure more stable results. Facial aging is a complex process involving all facial subunits; the best results are achieved by a combination of smaller procedures. Part II elucidates this concept in seven chapters that address different surgical and nonsurgical techniques to enhance facelift results. These include chapters on forehead and browlift procedures, advanced blepharoplasty techniques, perioral rejuvenation, autologous fat grafting, and skin resurfacing during facelift surgery. The final chapter focuses on special challenges encountered in secondary facelift cases, and provides extensive procedural details to help resolve the most common secondary facelift problems. Anatomic dissections highlight facial danger zones to help the surgeon avoid complications during surgery"-- Provided by publisher.
