Summary:
This case study provides insights into the effective design and administration of online questionnaires and interviews. The discussions and reflections are based on a research project carried out within the Middle East and North Africa region, investigating the growing status of English and its ramifications on the linguistic and educational landscapes in the region. Three major instruments were utilized: online questionnaires, online individual interviews, and online interview questionnaires. The study pinpoints the pitfalls to be avoided and offers advice to junior researchers so as to enable them to make judicious choices with respect to the effective application of online research methods.
