- Summary:
- For my master's dissertation, I conducted a case study of experiential education at a Canadian research-intensive university. While the topic of experiential education has certainly made its way through teaching and learning scholarship, less has been done to examine it as an organizational phenomenon. Using a case study approach, I conducted document analysis and semi-structured interviews with professional staff and faculty who were part of a new experiential education certificate program. While the data collection and analysis were a relatively straightforward process, I encountered some significant challenges when I engaged in the process of member checking. In this case study, I share insights on the process of member checking and power dynamics, and how junior researchers may consider their relationships with participants as they conceptualize and conduct qualitative research.
