Summary:

This exhibition brings together pieces produced by Tania Bedriñana in Kassel and Berlin, between 2002 and 2022, which address affective memory, primary bonds and power relations in the domestic space. Through paintings, drawings and installations with paper cutouts, Bedriñana explores the dreamlike traces of her childhood and youth, but also of the present, through the act of painting. Her works attempt to capture and acknowledge a complex set of emotions that navigate the fluctuating intersection between affectivity and violence, enthusiasm and anguish, silencing and the urge to remember. Includes, presented for the first time in Lima, "Alas de mariposa" (Butterfly Wings 2002), a complex and ambitious installation that includes figures cut out on the wall, watercolors on paper and a video-animation. The work, originally presented at the gallery Stellwerk of the Kulturbahnhof Kassel, in Germany, elaborates on emotional changes and the experience of the female body at puberty.
