Summary:
Retrospective organized in commemoration of the centenary of the birth of Víctor Humareda (Lampa, Puno, 1920 Lima, 1986) comprising a selection of 20 oil paintings and 30 drawings, as well as personal objects and documents, such as his notebooks, press clippings and audiovisual material. The figurative work of the Humareda represents the context that surrounded him. At the urban level, he painted fragments of the city and the periphery, certain architecture of La Victoria and Barrios Altos, the San Cosme hill, small plazas and old shreds. At a social and cultural level, he painted religious processions, bullfights and cockfights in Lima, but also from his native Puno. The exhibition also included a selection of black and white photographs taken by Herman Schwarz, photographer and friend of the artist, in reference to room 283 of the Hotel Lima, the narrow space that for decades (1952-1983) was Humareda's workshop and his home, "The room was his dwellings where he slept and painted for three decades. This room has been called the Humareda Museum because of his collections of books on the painters he admired and the prints he had hanging in the walls." --Page 126
