Summary:
This is a manuscript of a liturgical miscellany part the Yemenite Maḥzor, opening with the Azharot ("Exhortations") to be recited on Shavuot; these are piyutim enumerating the Biblical exhortations. The introduction (Reshut, or רשות) was written by David ben Elazar ibn Paḳuda (died circa 1125), beginning with אמון יום זה; ibn Gabirol's Azharot begin with שמור לבי מענה (with an additional caption in this manuscript; f. 2r); both piyutim are written in brief quatrains, laid out with in-line stanza breaks. Additional parts of the manuscript include the Chazzan's repetition with piyutim for the Prayer for Dew (תיקון הטל; the piyut שזופת שמש לחוצת פתרוסים, also by Ibn Gabirol (f. 12v)) recited on the eighth day of Passover, and the contiguous Prayer for Rain (תיקון הגשם; piyut is headed שפעת רביבים יורדי מזבוליו, by ibn Gabirol as well, continuing with בגשמי אורה תאיר אדמה (f. 16r) attributed to ibn Gabirol; see Davidson, Otsar 2107) recited on Shemini Atzeret. Written in single columns of seventeen lines, in a 19th century Yemenite semicursive script; paragraph openings and captions written in a Yemenite square script; bound in recent boards with two ornaments tooled to front board; linen spine.
