Summary:
Passover Haggadah in the Syrian style and rite, decorated and with a Judeo-Arabic translation both for the Haggadic and for much of the liturgical portions. The manuscript opens with Kiddush in the Syrian rite ("אלה מועדי ה' מקראי קודש", f. 1r) and features the Seder following it in a pentagonal diagram (f. 2v). The parts of the Seder which are comprised of instructions are written in Judeo-Arabic (such as f. 3r), and the recitational parts are translated following the text; the Song of the Sea follows Hallel (f. 31v) which is followed by Birkat ha-Shir (f. 33r; neither are translated). Decorations in colored inks; dividers (such as f. 19v) in multicolor, with some encompassing opening words (such as f. 1r); cranes (f. 1r); illustrations on Maggid portion (after f. 3r); additional test illustrations after the text (f. 36v). Written in an Oriental square script, likely using a metal-tipped pen; mostly written in 15 lines (varying up to 18 lines); script block double-ruled in lead; wine staining, mostly at end. Bound in a contemporary binding of blue marbled paper on boards, with leather spine and tips.
