Summary:
Mountaineer's honor: A young mountain girl falls in love with a faithless lowlander, who loves her and leaves her. Her angry, over-protective brother follows the man to town and attempts to force him to marry the girl, but is mocked and ridiculed. He becomes enraged and kills the man. A posse is formed, and the brother is tracked to his home. His mother, realizing that they intend to hang her son, shoots him herself. The daughter, the cause of all the tragedy, leaves home with her former beau, a simple mountain boy who still loves her. The family honor is preserved.
Rocky road: Ben Cook is an alcoholic who deserts his wife and young daughter. The shock of the abandonment drives the mother to madness. Wandering the countryside in search of her husband, she accidently abandons her baby, who is rescued and adopted by a kindly farmer. Meanwhile, Ben gets a job, stops drinking and his fortunes improve. He searches for the family he has abandoned, but cannot find them. After many years he meets a young woman and falls in love with her. Unbeknownst to him, the girl is his now-grown daughter. Just as they are about to be married, the wife regains her senses and is able to prevent the wedding, but afterwards collapses and dies in her husband's arms.
Her terrible ordeal: A woman is locked in a vault by a burglar and she may suffocate if she is not rescued.
Faithful: "The hero (Arthur Johnson) attempts to become engaged to the heroine (Miss Barker). On the way home from one of the meetings, his chauffeur-driven automobile runs down a poor, simple-minded type (Mack Sennett). The hero feels guilty, so he buys him clothing and feeds him. For the remainder of the film, Mr. Johnson cannot get away from Mr. Sennett, who obviously adores him. Sennett continues to make a pest of himself until Miss Barker's house catches on fire, and he saves her. She is now willing to marry Arthur Johnson, even though Mack Sennett seems to be part of the bargain"--Early motion pictures / Kemp R. Niver
As it is in life: A story of several generations and their love lives.
Romance of the Western hills: An Indian woman falls in love with a white man.
Unchanging sea: Tales of fishermen and their families, as a young couple's happy life is turned about by an accident.
Child of the ghetto: Ruth struggles to support herself as a seamstress and after being falsely accused of robbery. She flees the city and eventually falls in love with a farmer.
In the border states: "During the Civil War, a father living in a border state leaves to join the Union Army. After he leaves, Confederate troops forage on his property, where a soldier encounters one of his daughters. The father himself is wounded on a hazardous mission and must run for his life, pursued by Confederate soldiers"--IMDb, viewed Mar. 23, 2013
