Summary:

Doctor Waldemar Espinoza Soriano has synthesized the origin and evolution of the towns and cities that date their birth from the reductions with which the viceregal rulers organized the Andean populations throughout the territory for economic and tax purposes, applying and adapting the cabildos as a link between the runas (productive population) and the official structure of command and exploitation. Due to its breadth and axes of explanation, the book constitutes in itself an x-ray of the demographic nuclei and of operation through the interaction between the authorities represented by the traditional positions, known as varayoc o envarados (Governors and administrators of indigenous peoples) and the tributary runas gathered in the ayllus (a family clan) or communities. Included along with the radiography, are annotated census and economic geography in its regional and local dimension, whose contributions lead to the construction of totalizing estimates.
