Summary:

The attainment of robust data across multiple case studies poses a practical and methodological challenge. In seeking to understand why government reform in planning fails, the depth and the richness of the understandings developed are critical. This article presents the approach taken using multi-methods and asymmetric triangulation as a way of organising and balancing methods. This approach was designed to overcome some of the challenges of obtaining data requiring depth and detail over multiple case studies, drawn from a complex working environment and ensuring an appropriate weighting and consolidation of the data collected.
