Summary:
This methods-in-action case study explores the value of walking while interviewing as a form of gathering a life history. Drawing on a recent research project in which the author spoke to exiled Tibetans living in New York City, he discusses the ways in which their resistance to a standard, seated interview allowed for a new form of story gathering to develop: walking while interviewing. The benefits of a mobile interview are discussed at length.
