Summary:

Relates the history of the Jews in Cieszanów, situated 47 miles northwest of Lviv. Before the Shoah the Jewish community comprised 500-600 families. Approximately one-fourth of the Jews perished during the Shoah at the hands of the Nazis or due to hardships suffered as refugees in the USSR. The majority of Cieszanów's Jews left with the Soviets when the Germans entered in September 1939. However, a ghetto was created for the few hundred Jews who remained.
