Summary:

Memoirs of a hasidic Jew from Sighet, Romania, born ca. 1927. Pp. 89-112 relate his experiences in the Holocaust, when Sighet was part of Hungary. In April 1944 the city was occupied by the Germans, and ca. 15,000 Jews were interned in a ghetto; several weeks later they were deported to Auschwitz, where Kahana's parents and four of his siblings perished. Kahana was sent to the labor camps of Wolzberg (?) and Schottenberg, where he was liberated. He and one brother who survived emigrated to Israel in 1949.
