- Summary:
- The artist Carlos Correa has gone relatively unnoticed for academic research and art history in Colombia. Although in the forties of the 20th century he was a leading figure on the national scene, since the consolidation of avant-garde art in the sixties it was practically forgotten.. Much progress has been made in the study, understanding and appreciation of the life and work of artists such as Débora Arango, Pedro Nel Gómez and Fernando Botero, but not so in the inquiry into the trajectory and legacy of Carlos Correa, whose significance was not minor. "Carlos Correa: realismo y modernidad" its starting point is the social, political and cultural context of the Antioquian artist, and deals in detail with aspects of his life and training. Along with this, he exposes his fundamental aesthetic ideas and discerns the contribution and importance of his work in national art.
