Summary:
A compilation of critical texts, interviews and documents selected by art critic Walter de Queiroz Guerreiro, spanning two decades of the artistic production of artist Luiz Henrique Schwanke (b. Joinville, Brazil 1951-1992). In addition to analytical and documentary material, the work is illustrated with color reproductions of 153 of his drawings, a predominant category in the artist's production. With a degree in Social Communication from the Federal University of Paraná, Shwanke initially worked in theater where he was writer, actor and set designer. Recognized locally and aboard, his intense activity has produced more than five thousand works, including drawings, sculptures, paintings, installations and artist books. His art trajectory which has taken place in the south of Brazil, more specifically in Curitiba, since the decade of the 1970's, is an expression of a recent historical phenomenon of Brazilian contemporary art, one a pioneering art expansion beyond the limits of large cities.
