- Summary:
- James Whitworth to his wife, North Sea 4th February 1812. Is writing as he thinks they will soon be in port. He has a bad cold and small pimples breaking out, as it has been such cold weather. They had a man killed by one of the capstan's bars a week ago. They have taken no prizes this cruise, but on the last one he thinks he will get £15 or £16. Is hoping to get liberty when they come to Yarmouth to see his family ? if the king dies he'll get money to cover the expense of travel. Asks her not to mention what she did in her last letter as he doesn't think about it nor wish to give any concern.
