Diary kept by George Collins, HMS FORTE, 19 August 1868 to 29 October 1870, located at the back of the diary with code dated 30 March 1870. The front of the diary has a dedication to Ellen Collins' brother who died 10 May 1874 and poems with such titles as 'Life boat', 'A deed of Horror' and the 'French man in a fix'; the index to the poems is located towards the back. Has loose pages and newspaper clippings in the back.
