- Summary:
- Diary format log kept by Eben William Sage from 17 January-12 May 1812 while aboard the brig CRITERION on a trading voyage from New York, New York to London, England and Le Havre, France. The CRITERION was captured by the British frigate BELLE POULE, commanded by George Hoarvis. Sage was put on board the sloop-of-war ROVER, then transferred to the ship WARSPITE, and again to the American brig MARS bound for Plymouth, England. He travelled overland from Plymouth to London and from there sailed in the ship ELIZABETH to Le Havre.
