Summary:
Edward Codrington to Lady Arden. Warning her against raising her hopes as to George's attainments, and reminding her that his manners will be those of a sailor, not a gentleman on land. He wishes she had not sent George money, as Codrington wishes to keep him on a par with his less wealthy peers. Tells her the fleet has deteriorated since Nelson's death - there are no vegetables or stock for the fleet, nor associating with fellow officers. Dated ORION off Cadiz, 14 October 1806.
