Summary:
Log of the ship UNICORN kept on four separate trading voyages from 1837-1840. The first voyage, commanded by St. Croix Redman, was out of New York and bound for Mobile, Alabama; Liverpool, England; and Boston, Mass. from 9 February-21 July 1837. harbour logs were kept at Mobile, Liverpool, and Boston. The second voyage, also commanded by Redman, was from Boston, Mass. to New Orleans, Louisiana from 23 October-17 December 1837. A harbour log at New Orleans was recorded by William Boutelle. The third voyage from Boston to New Orleans and back from 25 November 1838-4 March 1839 with a brief stop made at Charleston, South Carolina was commanded by Alexander C. Childs. The final voyage, also commanded by Childs, was from Boston to New Orleans, Liverpool, Le Havre, France and back from 17 March 1839-30 August 1840. harbour logs at Boston, New Orleans, and Liverpool were recorded by passenger William Edwards Hendy.
