- Summary:
- The CD is dedicated to the two great Russian musicians, Sergei Rachmaninov and Fedor Chaliapin. Both artists lived and worked at the same time, they also worked together for several years; apart from that, they were close friends. Chaliapin's recording on the CD includes folk songs, works by Russian composers including his famous scenes from Mussirgsky's Boris Godunov and Rachmaninov's Aleko, and Mephistoffele's arias by Boito. Rachmaninov performs his Second Concerto. It is not the well-known recording of 1929, but a less famous earlier one, which makes it especially interesting for music lovers.
