Summary:
A collection of over 100 recipes, arranged in loose order of fruit recipes (including preserving, fruit pastes, dried fruit, and candying); pickling recipes for vegetables, beans, shellfish, and fish; potted and collared meats; cakes, puddings, balls (dumplings), and cheesecakes; meat jellies; puff and shortcrust pastry; meat recipes (including brisk of mutton, bumbard of veal, leg of mutton a la mode); fish recipes (including roast pike and boiled cod's head); salted meats; boiled savory puddings; sweet puddings; wines, condiments, and sauces (Alastor). The second quire (f. 25-32) and back wrapper are both detached. A list of recipes at the end (f. 32r-32v) is a table of contents, sometimes diverging from the order in the manuscript, for the first half of the volume (f. 1r-15v).

Foliation: Paper, 32 leaves; [1-32], modern foliation in pencil, lower right recto; a leaf has been torn out after f. 15, with no apparent loss of text, and the foliation does not include the missing leaf.
Script: Written in cursive script.
Binding: Original (18th-century) paper wrappers, with back wrapper detached and lacking upper quarter and front wrapper printed with an engraved portrait medallion of Leopold I, Holy Roman Emperor (1640-1705), with a decorative border and touches of hand coloring (Alastor).
Origin: Probably written in England (pen trials on back wrapper include the words London and Yarmouth), circa 1739 (Richard Holme inscription inside front wrapper).
