- Summary:
- Part of a new series on art/photography by young artists, illustrators, photographers in the State of Mexico. Artist's books are, at the same time, works of art made in various formats and materials, and editions that fulfill the traditional function of containing information, that is, communicating messages through texts and images. Kena Kitchengs is an artist working mainly with printmaking techniques and currently producing artists' books in small editions. Of Crows and Other Beasts shows the work of Kena Kitchengs in this field. His inspiration to create artist's books comes from stories and mythological narratives from different worldviews. The process of creation of this visual artist resembles DIY, through which everything is borrowed and reformulated or, rather, given the freedom to configure the form and content of her books to achieve true interactive works of art, because, after all, the book is an artifact that needs to be manipulated so that readers enter it.
