- In this chapter, we learn about the scientific approach to evaluation of data to enable the consultants to interpret the results of exploration and sampling activities of Phase II ESAs to form sound, scientifically based opinions. We describe the distinction between the QA and QC functions and described the individual validations steps that the consultants must complete during the evaluation process before interpreting the data. We discuss and give examples of unexpected results and their potential implications on the consultant's ability to meet the goals of the Phase II assessments.
