- Summary:
- In this chapter, safety and health issues associated with site investigations are discussed. The importance of appropriate training that stresses the protection of personnel and not just following the regulations is emphasized. The two most likely regulations (HAZWOPER and RCRA) to be of interest are indicated. The types and importance of SOPs are also discussed. Items for inclusion in site safety plans are provided for reference. Also discussed is the difficulty with initial site entry due to unknown hazards and risks. The main focus of any health and safety plan is to protect human health. The consultant performing operations on a site is responsible for the safety of others.
