Through narratives constructed from ten documentary photographic series, Rubens Guelman portrays the urban realism of the 1960s in diverse cities of the state of Pernambuco. The images in this book revive wanderings in the public squares and streets in Salvador, Caruaru, Recife, Ilha de Itaparica, and tracethe diversity of flagrantscenes takenin random of everyday life: acoachman sleepingin his wagon, the children who sell delicacies at the fair, the domino players surrounded by curious under a zinc plate cover, the young delivery. They are, all of them, characters from my first photographic series, cut out of the collection I built from 1966 to 1968.ʺ (HKB Translation) --Page [17].
