Summary:
Depicts taxicabs and drivers from Philadelphia cab companies, including P.R.T. cabs, the Mitten Cab Service, G.I. taxicabs, and Yellow Cabs. Portrays mechanics working on vehicles. Highlights women drivers. Contains images of radios and meters. Documents veterans protesting and picketing as well as a hearing regarding the franchise of the G.I. Taxicab Association. Shows Yellow Cabs in line at 30th Street Station and the Academy of Music. Documents cab drivers striking against P.R.T. and the Yellow Cab Company. P.R.T. images depict pickets, arrests, and cabs driven into the Delaware. Yellow Cab views illustrate the hearing, workers applying for unemployment compensation, and independents returning to work. Other images depict antique cabs in Europe, special cabs for veterans and for children, a cab interior, and social customs between passenger and driver.
