Summary:

Documents street lighting in Philadelphia as the transition from gas to electric lighting started. Portrays a community meeting, and comparisons of each type of light. Includes views of lamps being turned off for blackouts during the war years. Also depicts people climbing on street lights for various reasons. Also contained in this grouping are street views at the following locations: Nixon and Shawmont, the 1000 block of Montrose, 33rd and Chestnut, Dicks Avenue south of 75th, 63rd and Girard, 63rd and Arch, Wissahickon Avenue and Lincoln Drive, Ford Road from Belmont to Monument, 56th and Pearl, Chelten Avenue east of Germantown Avenue, and the 3200 block of Ionic Street.
