- HOUSEHOLD accompt-book of Rachel, wife of Thomas Pengelly [ob. 6 Jan. 169.5/6], Merchant of Leadenhall-street, London, during residence at Finchley and Cheshunt: containing memoranda of payments made by Richard Cromwell, ex-Protector of England, who boarded with the family under the assumed name of Mr. Clarke; Dec. 1693-Apr. 170.8/9. At the end, f. 118 b, is a memorandum that "The Picture and Coat of Mail of Oliver Cromwell was given to Mrs. Pengelly and her son [Sir Thomas Pengelly, Chief Baron of the Exchequer] by Richard Cromwell (the son of Oliver) who boarded with her; and the clarck [Mr. Webb] of Chief Barron Pengelly had them, with other effects of Chief Barron Pengelly's, and his clarke 1eft them to his Neice the present owner of them."
