- Summary:
- "Lisa Steffens (1958-2015, Bochum, Germany) grew up in a large family. Her mother was a painter, her father was an architect. From an early age she knew that she wanted to be a painter. Her work is colourful and very varied. It is characterised by a great diversity of styles, techniques and materials. Lisa Steffens was a great admirer of the Spanish and Flemish old masters. She perfectly reproduced their portraits and still lifes and then placed them in surprising contexts. She was fascinated by the connection between the centuries-old pictures of the past and the present ones. She wanted to show how the pictures of 'high' art are found in the imagery of everyday modern life"--Provided by publisher.
