- Summary:
- The book seeks to give an account of the new perspectives and raises through diverse and lucid essays the role of photography, not only as a way of knowing social reality, but also of creating it, as an agent of transformation. The book is organized into three central themes: the circulation of images, bodies and visions of otherness; photojournalism in relation to politics; and commemorations as well as historical memory. "Photography is a latent image that is waiting to be revealed, looked at, analyzed, contextualized and linked to other stories," explains Yujnovsky writes in the introduction of this book so, instead of considering photography as a reflection of reality, aims to approach this language as an agent of transformation.
