Volume 4 includes the difficult life of a naturalised German in England, British anti-German propaganda, the first zeppelin attack on Coventry, the successes and failures of the Triumph Motor Cycle Company, the Treaty of Versailles and Siegfried Bettmann's opinion of the strict peace terms imposed on Germany, personal sorrow over the loss of family and colleagues in the war, political parties, detailed accounts of the lives of three men closely associated with Bettmann during and after the war, and Bettmann's resignation as Managing Director.Also included are excerpts and translations of letters and articles received and collected by Bettmann during this period.

As these memoirs were being written in the 1930s, Siegfried Bettmann also comments on current events and the political situation both in England and Germany, with the rise of Hitler and increasing anti-semitism, alongside his reminiscences of the early 20th century.
