- Description: During the first World War Marion S. Simpson of Hamilton, Ont. wrote letters of encouragement and sent parcels, mainly socks, to Canadian soldiers overseas.The fonds consists of fourteen letters written by soldiers in appreciation of the gifts sent to them as well as one black and white photograph.Correspondents are: B. Bayliss, 1 January 1916; R.C. Beswick, 27 December 1917; E.J. Casey, 15 September 1918; George H. Edward, 6 November 1918; J .H. Harvey, 4 November 1916; Joe Hughes, 13 October 1918 with black and white photo of Hughes J.E. Jennings, 11 November 1916; E. MacLachlan, 23 September 1917; George Phair, 4 January 1918 and 23 March 1918; Charles E. Sharpe, 27 March 1918; G. [Tunner?], 25 February 1918; W. Vaughan, 18 November 1916, with undated letter from Simpson addressed to "Dear Soldier Boy".
