- Description: Correspondence and lists relating to allocations of Muirhead Bone drawings. Under the terms of his first, so-called Wellington House Agreement, the British Museum were entitled to make a first selection. Bone was free to allocate the remainder himself, apart from a number reserved by the Admiralty. (This agreement was separate from that under which Bone worked for the Ministry of Information).The file covers allocations to the following institutions and individuals: British Museum (Campbell Dodgson); National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, via Frank Rinder; the Canadian War Memorials Committee; the National Gallery of British Art (Tate Gallery) (Charles Aitken); Manchester City Art Gallery (Laurence Haward); the Victoria & Albert Museum (Martin Hardie); the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff (W Evans Hoyle); the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge (Sydney Cockerell); the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Brig. Gen. John Charteris, C E Montague and C F G Masterman. A large number of drawings came to the IWM.
