Description: A view of Abadan from the river at the junction of the Euphrates and Tigris, seen at night. There is a dhow with sails down in the foreground, and the lights and outlines of an Anglo-Persian Oil Company depot in the background. The island is in the mouth of the junction of the Euphrates and Tigris. Oil fuel was of the utmost necessity for the Mesopotamian river traffic in the advance on Baghdad.
