Summary:
Description: First World War period commemorative pack of cigarettes, a souvenir of the Gallipoli campaign. A small rectangular paper-covered tin with a hinged lid. The tin contains a snugly fitted plain white card box insert with a red 'seal' printed with the name of the manufacturer 'NICOLAS SOUSSA' over two of four folded flaps. When the flaps are opened out they reveal a complete set of ten cigarettes - each one printed with the EGYPT battle honour and '1/6th BATTn MANCHESTER REGIMENT' horizontally at the 'mouth' end of the cigarette and with date printed vertically down the length 'JUNE 4th 1915', 'EXTRA' and the name of the manufacturer is additionally printed in gold along the length. The top of the lid and the inside of the lid bear identical white paper labels printed in black ink as follows: '1/6th BATTn MANCHESTER REGIMENT - IN MEMORIAM - JUNE 4TH 1915', the paper covering the outside of the tin shows signs of wear and tear.
