Hilt form: light one-piece turned wood grip secured to tang by single steel rivet. Grip is comfortably shaped to hand being slab-sided with rounded underside and back, broadening towards its midpoint. A hole is formed in the pommel to allow attachment of leather lanyard. Grip is separated from blade by a thin-guage dished oval plate steel guard. Guard finish: blued. Blade form: narrow double-edged tapered blade with prominent near medial step or ridge. The blade is fashioned from a cut-down Model 1916 bayonet blade, the wide central ridge of the original blade being much reduced. Leather washer at blade base.
