- Description: These manuscript documents all relate to the island of Barbados, the commodities grown and shipped from there, the slaves shipped from Africa to work there, and the associated claims made upon the revenue from this trade. There are claims made by William Hay 3rd, Earl of Kinnoull on folio numbers 2-5, by his countess on folio numbers 27-30, by Richard Jones, 1st Earl of Ranelagh on folios 10-17 and 58, and by the widow of Sir George Cartaret on folio 31. On folio 18 there is a copy of an Order in Council to the Governor, 10 March 167 5 / 6, upholding the patent granted to the African Company for the importation of " negros and other merchandises," in which trade the Spaniards were anxious to have a share (also see folio 20). On folios 35-57 are statistics of exports of sugar, cotton, ginger, molasses, rum, and lime-juice, 1 Jan. 1681-1 July, 1683, and on folios 102-106 there is a copy of the account (1696-1704) of Captain Charles Thomas, as Receiver of the Casual Revenues.
