- The Heckscher family was a prominent family of merchants in Altona (the surname originally was Höxter, after the town in eastern North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany); Kalman's grandfather was Zanvil (possibly referring to Samuel Sanwil Heckscher, 1645-1714).
- Summary:
- This is a manuscript promissory note, likely archived in the Altona Beth Din, recording that Ḳalman ben Aharon Heckscher was obligated to send Leise (לעזי, short for Eliʻezer) ben Shimʻon Heckscher a sum of money in support of his mother-in-law; signed by Ḳalman following the text. Written in nine lines in an Ashkenazic cursive script.
