Summary:
First broadcast in 1984 by RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana, The Octopus (La Piovra) was an international phenomenon, running for ten seasons over 18 years and making a star of its lead actor, Michele Placido. This Mafia thriller beoke new ground as it explored was between law enforcement and the criminal network rooted in Sicily. Filmed in Europe, Asia and North American, The Octopus illustrated the reach of the criminal tentacles that touch all levels of society and cross borders and continents. The powerful score by Academy award winning composer Ennio Morricone (Cinema Paradiso, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, The mission) evokes the saga's tragic trajectory and the tension of a world fraught with danger. This new edition of The Octopus has been restored by RAI using the best available masters from their archives. Video and audio quality reflect the vintage nature of these clasic programs.
