- Life and work of artist Alejandro Obregon (Barcelona, Spain 1920-Colombia 1992), who was primarily a painter characteristic for the use of symbols and where color (particularly red) is an essential part of his unique style. He is considered an important reference of the abstract Surrealist movement in Latin America. The painter and sculptor Alejandro Obregón He belonged to a brilliant generation of Colombian artists, writers, architects and composers, being one of the most outstanding among so many talented creators. To celebrate the centenary of his birth, on June 4, 2020, the Museum of Modern Art of Barranquilla decided to sponsor the study of his life and work; for which it required the collaboration of a group of distinguished historians, critics and academics, who were entrusted with the task of studying the contributions of this master to the culture of the city, the country and Latin America.ʺ (HKB Translation) --Page 12.
