- Summary:
- In 1996 Juan Mejía and Wilson Díaz carried out a set of interventions on the covers of 3 photomagazines (also called fotonovelas): "Santo, El enmascarado de plata" (Mexico), "Kapax del Amazonas" (Colombia) and "Blue Demon" (Mexico). In them, Juan and Wilson inserted themselves into the logic of comics by combining photographs and illustrations of themselves. Saltando matones parodies the stereotypes of manly strength, compassion for female weakness, the difference between pain and pleasure, or the nature of the characters that circulated on the covers: thugs of all kinds, African spirits, yetis, mariachis, Nazis, secretaries, vampires, gorillas, water monsters, indigenous people of the Amazon (tarzans), transgenders, zombies, various deaths, etc.
