Summary:
"This book provides a firsthand account of Christhiaon Coie's relationship with the Alamo Christian Foundation and particularly her mother, Susan Alamo. It sheds light on the early years of the group as a noteworthy type of new religious movement growing out of the social turmoil of the late 1960s. Even as a young person, Coie rarely came under the sway of Susan and Tony, and she could spot a grift when she saw one. Consequently, her relationship with her mother and stepfather became fraught and dangerous for her, as she was difficult to control and, in Susan and Tony's eyes, had the makings of a whistleblower on the business of the church. The memoir focuses fairly closely on the years up to Susan Alamo's death and the harrowing events that occur shortly after"-- Provided by publisher.
